OSU's Meyer and PSU's Harmotto Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans :: Meyer receives second career All-America honors, Harmotto earns first

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Ohio State's Danielle Meyer and Penn State's Christa Harmotto were named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Wednesday. Meyer, a first-team honoree, receives her second career honor, while Harmotto, a third-team member, earns her first.

A senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, Meyer owns a 3.98 grade-point average (GPA), majoring in textiles & design. The 6-1 middle blocker was recently named a unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten Team after leading the Buckeyes and finishing sixth in the conference with 1.33 blocks per game and placing seventh in the Big Ten with 5.06 points per game. The Academic All-America honor is the second of Meyer's career as she was a second-team member last season.

Harmotto, the Big Ten's Player of the Year, earns her first career Academic All-America honors with a 3.34 GPA in elementary education. The 6-2 junior from Aliquippa, Pa., led the Big Ten with a .469 hitting percentage in conference play and is second in the nation with a .483 average in all contests.
