Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Meghan Armstrong, Iowa
Sr., Tualatin, Ore. / Tualatin
Armstrong becomes the first Hawkeye in school history to garner Track Athlete of the Week during an outdoor season.  The senior opened the 2008 outdoor campaign with a first-place finish in the 1,500 meters at the Shamrock Invitational.  Her time of 4:26.62 qualifies her for the NCAA Midwest Regional.  This is Armstrong's first career weekly honor. Iowa has had three Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honorees since the inception of this award, all of them being field competitors.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Liz Podominick, Minnesota
Sr., Lakeville, Minn. / Lakeville
In her first outdoor meet of the season, Podominick racked up two first-place finishes in the shot put and the discus at the TSU Relays last weekend.  The senior threw regional qualifying marks in both events placing the shot 47-8 (14.53m) and heaving the disc 165-1 (50.31m).  The Lakeville, Minn., native collects her first career weekly accolade.
