Co-Players of the Week

Michelle Batts, Northwestern

Fr., 1B, Bloomingdale, Ill. / Glenbard North

Batts helped Northwestern to a 3-0 record on the week with two of those wins coming against No. 24 Ohio State in Big Ten play.  The Bloomingdale, Ill., native tallied a .583 average for the week (7-for12), with three home runs, nine RBI, two doubles and scoring four times.  In the Wildcats' first game of the week against Loyola (Chicago) on April 3, the freshman was a perfect 3-for-3 with two home runs, five RBI, a double and scored three times in a 9-1 Northwestern win.  In the first game of a doubleheader with the Buckeyes, Batts notched three more hits in five at-bats with a double and two RBI to pace NU to a 7-0 victory.  In the final game of the weekend, Batts only hit of the game was a homerun with one aboard in the 6-0 Wildcats win.  Northwestern is now 6-0 in conference games and is currently first in the Big Ten standings.  This is Batts' first career weekly laurel.

Jenna Alexander, Purdue

Alexander is this week's Player of the Week hitting for a .667 average in six at-bats to help Purdue to four consecutive victories over IUPUI and Wisconsin.  In game one of a doubleheader with IUPUI on April 2, the sophomore had a double in her only at-bat as the Boilermakers won, 6-1.  In the first of a doubleheader against Wisconsin on April 4, Alexander was a perfect 2-for-2, hitting solo homeruns in both plate appearances to account for her two RBI and two runs to aid in a 5-2 win.  In Purdue's final game against the Badgers, the Elk Grove, Calif., native went 1-for-2 with an RBI to lead the Boilermakers to another win, 4-3.  This is Alexander's first career weekly honor.

Pitcher of the Week

Jordan Taylor, Michigan

Fr., P, Valencia, Calif. / Valencia

Taylor picked up two wins in two complete games as the Wolverines went 3-1 for the week.  The freshman had 28 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.00 for the weekend in 14 innings of work and did not issue a single base on balls.  Against Iowa on April 5, the Valencia, Calif., native had 14 strikeouts, giving up just four hits to earn the 3-0 victory.  On April 6 against Illinois, Taylor notched 14 strikeouts once again, only relinquishing two hits to help Michigan to a 5-0 win.  This is Taylor's first career weekly laurel.
