Michigan and Minnesota Earn Weekly Honors

Feb. 25, 2008

Player of the Week

Samantha Findlay, Michigan
Sr., 1B, Lockport, Ill./East
Findlay paced the Wolverines' offensive efforts at the UCF Tournament, batting .571 (8-for-14) over the five-game stretch with two home runs and 10 RBI. The Lockport, Ill., native tallied at least one hit in each of the tournament games, including multi-hit efforts in the final three slates. Findlay knocked out her third and fourth home runs of the season--both three-run shots--bringing her career tally to 45 and pulling within one of Michigan's school record. This is the second career weekly honor for Findlay.

Last MICH Player of the Week: Rebekah Milian (3/23/08)

Pitcher of the Week

Briana Hassett, Minnesota
Jr., P, Eagan, Minn./Eastview
Hassett was nearly unhittable in three games at the Eagle Classic over the weekend. She  tossed three complete games (two shutouts) and allowed only one earned run in 20 innings. The Eagan, Minn., native allowed just eight hits in those three games while striking out 31 batters. She lowered her ERA to 1.66 on the season and improved her record to 7-2. This is the first career laurel for Hassett.

Last MINN Pitcher of the Week: Piper Marten (5/3/04)
