Ohio State's Davenport Earns Weekly Honor



Ohio State's Jessica Davenport earns her third Player of the Week honor in four weeks after becoming just the 11th player in Big Ten history to reach 2,000 career points last weekend.

Davenport earns her third Player of the Week honor in four weeks after becoming just the 11th player in Big Ten history to reach 2,000 career points last weekend.  Against Illinois on Sunday, Davenport surpassed the career milestone at the 2:11 mark of the first half and ended the game with 22 points, nine rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists.  Prior to the home contest with Illinois, the Buckeye senior totaled 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots last Thursday in a win over Wisconsin.  For the week, Davenport averaged 19 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals.  She shot 60 percent on 12-of-20 from the field and was 14-of-18 (.778) from the free-throw line.  This is her fourth weekly honor of the season and the 13th of her career, which is second all-time behind the 17 of Penn State's Kelly Mazzante (2001-04).
