Seven Men's Golf Squads selected to Compete in NCAA Regionals

Seven Big Ten Men's Golf teams were selected to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship Regionals, announced Monday by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee.  Big Ten teams competing in this year's regional events include: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin.  Minnesota's Victor Almstrom and Clayton Rask will be competing as individuals.

Michigan State will be the No. 8 seed in the East Regional to be played at the Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  The Spartans earned an automatic bid to the NCAA event after winning the Big Ten Conference Championships on April 27.

The Central Regional will house No. 8 seed Indiana, No. 13 seed Penn State, No. 15 seed Michigan, No. 18 Illinois, No. 19 seed Ohio State and Gopher student athletes Almstrom and Rask as they will compete as individuals.  Rounds will be played at the Scarlet Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio hosted by Ohio State University. 

Wisconsin earned the West Regional's No. 20 seed and will play at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington hosted by the University of Washington. 
Three regional tournaments will be conducted May 15-17 to determine the championships field.  Regional tournaments are considered preliminary rounds of NCAA championships competition, and all national championships policies will apply.
