PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Zach Putnam, Michigan
Jr., RHP, Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer

Putnam takes home the first weekly pitching accolade of the Big Ten schedule after leading the Wolverines to a 4-3, 10-inning win over Iowa in the teams' conference opener on Saturday. The right-hander was perfect through the first 6.1 innings of play until an infield error ended the bid in the seventh. The junior struck out a career-high 12 batters, scattered three hits and did not issue a walk or allow an earned run in the eight-inning effort. In the outing, Putnam held opponents to a .100 batting average, which currently ranks as the best mark in Big Ten play. The junior also contributed at the dish, combining to hit .429 with a .929 slugging percentage as the Wolverines swept the Hawkeyes in the four-game series. The award is Putnam's first career weekly accolade and the second pitching accolade for the Wolverines this season.
