Making a Difference
Jo and Murray Daniels were both proud and sad to see their daughter Joey leave home in Oakley, Calif., to attend college on a softball scholarship at Wisconsin. The talented young catcher made the 2,100-mile trip to Badger country to make a difference. Now as her collegiate career comes to an end, Daniels is set to embark on a new journey. 'Boy, How Time Flies'
Long before he stepped foot on Wisconsin's campus and took charge of a program that would encounter championship success over the next 25 years, Ed Nuttycombe was participating in his father's neighborhood track meets in Richmond, Va., running sprints in the streets and pole vaulting in the backyard. Follow the Leader
Wisconsin head women's swimming coach Eric Hansen believes a good leader must first be a good follower. During the past four years in Madison, Hansen has had both in senior Jackie Vavrek. A talented product out of West Chicago, Ill., one whom Hansen called his model recruit, Vavrek learned the ropes early by watching and following other swimmers such as 2004 Olympic gold medalist Carly Piper.
